I used Special Effects hair dye in Virgin Rose 4 days ago. It came out amazing! However, it has been rubbing off on everything my hair touches- my clothes, my bed sheets and my pillow cases. My sister told me to wash it in cold water and it will stop rubbing off, but 3 washes later, it's still doing this! I haven't worn a nice shirt since I dyed my hair and I would really like to, but it's just going to get stained. How can I fix this?
This happens. Any really good non natural dye will bleed (This effect is called bleeding)
My green/blue/teal hair is as we speak bleeding slightly from me getting sweaty walking around at lunch.

Your sister was correct, using cold water will help. Use sulfate free shampoo and only wash your hair 2x week. When you do wash, rinse well. Try using a color sealer, it seemed to help me some too. Also try to stop touching your hair.
HOWEVER, bleed is unavoidable. My sheets, pillows, shirts (these usually wash out after a spin or two in the washing machine) keyboards, headphones, fingers, back, neck, all of it will turn colors.
I have had bleed with every color and every brand I've tried. Typically higher bleed = higher color density and cling. Invest in an overshirt/jacket that you're ok with staining, and always wear black the day after fresh dyeing.
I dyed mine a bright pink and a purple color and it hardly bled at all. Just a little at first, and on white sports bras and pillow cases when it was wet. But that was it. I had my color for 2 months straight with surprisingly little fade. I had no problems with sweat honestly. I think that it's my hair type or something.

For some reason, it stains my black shirts, too. However, right now it isn't staining...idk why. A step in the right direction, I suppose.

Weirdly enough when I dyed my hair pink and purple, only the purple rubbed off and it only rubbed off on my white sports bras. That's fine. And a little on the pillow cases but nothing like when I would sweat. I used Beyond the Zone and slept with the color on my hair over night. Maybe that made a difference? Or just my hair type. I have no idea. I'm sorry. http://laundry.about.com/od/stainremoval/qt/removehairdye.htm Maybe that will help? Hopefully. If not, I have no idea.
Ooh another question..so right now, it isn't staining anything, not even my pillowcases! I plan on washing it tomorrow. Would it bleed until it dries up completely?
